How does one become an Presbyterianian?
One becomes a Presbyterian by meeting with the pastor for some general instructions and then meeting with the board of Elders, followed
by a call of the Session.
One may join by profession of faith (including baptism if not already baptized), transfer of membership from a church that will
transfer membership to a Presbyterian Church, or by Reaffirmation of Faith. Reaffirmation is for those persons no longer active in
a church or who belong to a church that does not transfer membership.
Normally a person joining is presented to the congregation during a morning worship service. If baptism is necessary, it is done
at that time. The Presbyterian Church does not rebaptize persons coming from another Christian denomination.
Click here for more information on becoming a Presbyterianian.
How do I transfer my membership to First Presbyterian?
Transfer of membership is done by the church. A person wishing to do so, should speak to the pastor or an Elder, give us the name and
address of the former church, and then meet with the Session. This church will request of the former church a certificate of transfer of membership.
